Centre for Early Childhood Development and Research (CECDR), Jamia Millia Islamia, recently conducted a training programme for Supervisors and Child Development Project Officers (CDPOs) engaged in 17 projects of Integrated Child Development Scheme (ICDS) in South Delhi District.
 
The five-day training programme undertaken by Department of Women and Child Development, Government of Delhi was a part of the process of restructuring of the ICDS and was attended by 80 participants.
 
The main objective of the programme was to develop an in-depth understanding of Early Childhood Education (ECE) curriculum and activities to be followed by Anganwadi Centres.
 
Prof Zubair Meenai, Hony Director, CECDR in his welcome address talked about the important role of CECDR in organising such training programmes.
 
The main emphasis of the training was to provide hands-on experience to participants in conducting appropriate ECE curriculum and activities, said Dr Neelima Chopra, Assistant Professor at CECDR and the training coordinator of the programme.
 
The trained CDPOs and supervisors are expected to guide ICDS workers in conducting various child friendly activities in their respective Anganwadis and enhance children's development and learning skills at Anganwadi centres.
 
The Importance of emotional and mental health among children was discussed by Dr Nimisha Kumar, Assistant Professor, CECDR during the five-day programme.
