IIT Bombay has become the favourite among the brightest engineering aspirants this year. Whille 65 of the top 100 JEE rankers opted for the Powai-based institute, the second best preference was IIT-Delhi.
If trend is to be believed then earlier the first prefernce of the engineering studnets was to join IIT-Kharagpur. However, the fees of IIT-Bombay were hiked by around Rs 10,000 per student annually.
"I think students are coming here because of the perception that it is the best institute. In all the rankings, we are pretty high on the student perception level," IIT-Bombay director Devang Khakhar was quoted saying by The Times of India.
"While IIT-Bombay and Delhi were still building themselves, Kharagpur's students occupied top positions in big firms," said a former JEE chairman.
