Department of Electrical Engineering, Jamia Millia Islamia is organizing a five-day GIAN course on "Role of Smart Building Energy Management Systems in the Development of Smart City" from March 6, 2018 at which Saifur Rahman, Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering and Founding Director of Advanced Research Institute at Virginia Tech, USA will be sharing his research findings and experience with the participants.

Vice Chancellor, JMI, Talat Ahmad, will inaugurate the course which is part of a flagship programme of HRD Ministry at the Faculty of Engineering & Technology Auditorium at 10.00 AM.

More than 100 participants from different universities including IITs and NITs have registered for the week-long course. 

The course is designed to cover different aspects of energy consumption in India and will introduce the importance of smart building concept in view of rising demand of energy.

Saifur Rahman is a Life Fellow of the IEEE and an IEEE Millennium Medal winner. He was the founding editor-in-chief of the IEEE Electrification Magazine and is on IEEE Board of Directors as vice president for 2018 and 2019.

Majid Jamil, Department of Electrical Engineering, JMI, is the Coordinator of this GIAN programme.
