JMI today organized a massive cleanliness drive on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti.
Around 200 volunteers of NSS unit took out a march from gate number seven of the university to New Friends Colony (NFC) Community Centre covering other areas like Sukhdev Vihar and Sarai Jullena village also.
Volunteers were carrying banners & placards having Swachh Bharat slogans. Volunteers were wearing white t-shirts and orange caps and were raising slogans to spread the message of clean India.
Roomi Jauhri, Delhi state NSS Officer who also joined March said "I am happy to see that volunteers have come in large numbers for this noble cause. I congratulate these people and hope that they will continue doing this kind of good work in future too"
After reaching the New Friends Colony Community center the volunteers formed several groups and cleaned the area. After the cleanliness drive students assembled and organised a street play on Swachh Bharat. Prof. Naimatullah Khan, Program Coordinator, NSS, JMI said
"As part of swachhta pakhwada we organised cleanliness drive in various localities of Jamia Nagar and today on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti we thought of ending it at NFC Community Centre. We got a good response during this drive"
After the street play, the volunteers came back to university, where a poster competition on Swachh Bharat was organized.
V. H. Siddique, Deputy Program Coordinator, Dr Abid Husain, Prog. Officer and Dr Naved Jamal, Program Officer, NSS were also present during the program and also took part in the cleanliness drive with the volunteers.
