The Indian Air Force plans to organise a week-long publicity drive, starting from December 3, at three airforce bases in Gujarat, to motivate Gujarati youth to join the armed forces.
An array of activities would be organised at Air Force Stations at Baroda, Bhuj and Jamnagar, from December 3 to December 9, an official press release said.
Students at various schools and colleges as well as National Cadet Corps (NCC) cadets would be invited to these stations, where the IAF plans to showcase its aircraft to attract them.
These youth would also get a chance to participate in various activities at these locations such as parasailing, powered hang-gliding and microlight flying.
At a counselling corner, students would be shown a video and a presentation on various career opprotunities in the IAF, the release said.
Generally, the perception is that Gujarati youth are least interested in joining the Air Force and so this drive has been specifically planned to attract youth from the state of Gujarat to the force, officials said.
