The Gujarat Cabinet which has approved the government recruitment calender for the next ten years, said here on Wednesday that it would recruit around 2.50 lakh youths during that period.

The announcement which comes just before the Lok Sabha elections said that the state cabinet headed by Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi approved the recruitment calender.

"With this recruitment calender, around 2.50 lakh youth will get government jobs in ten years in 289 different cadres," an official statement issued after the Cabinet meeting said.

"During this recruitment calendar, it has ascertained that for 10 years, around 1.53 lakh recruitment opportunities will be created in state government services. Besides, as per boards, corporations and granted institutions would generate employment opportunities for additional 1 lakh youth," the statement said.

In the year 2014 the Gujarat government will recruit around 36,000 youth as per the calender and in 2015, around 20,400 youths would be recruited, it said.

The state cabinet also gave a nod to reorganise the Gujarat State Public Service Commission (GSPC) for transparency and qualitative improvement of the Gujarat government''s recruitment procedure.

According to Gujarat Finance Minister Nitin Patel, the re-organisation included overhauling the competitive examination system and test paper pattern for the combined GSPC test.
He was confident that the exercise would prove to be a boon for talented freshers serve in the state''s administrative service.

The GSPC''s existing structure would also be changed as the number of its members would be increased from five to eight, he said.
