A four-day inter-university Law Fest, ‘Tabeer’, organised by the Faculty of Law, Jamia Millia Islamia from January 18 showcased 27 academic, cultural and sports competitions with the participation of over 300 students from across the country.
Squadron Leader SS Hakim who was the chief guest at the inaugural ceremony held at the university’s MA Ansari Auditorium was joined by Dean of the Faculty of Law, Nuzhat Parveen Khan and Qazi Mohammad Usman, Programme Coordinator.
Addressing the students, Hakim stressed upon the need for incorporation of sports into school and college curricula while delving into the relationship between sports and national integration.
Khan spoke about the nature and rationale behind ‘Tabeer’ 18, the first such fest hosted by the Faculty of Law.
The inaugural programme also had an enchanting Odissi dance performance by Ist Year BA LLB student, Shimran Zaman.
Monis Ahmad Khan and Afghani Brothers further mesmerised the audience with their glittering performance.
The inaugural programme concluded with a formal vote of thanks by Programme Coordinator Dr Qazi Mohammad Usman.
The fest included several competitive events such as extempore moot competition, poetry slam, group dance, basketball, football, badminton, table tennis, and cricket matches.
A sufi night of glittering performances by Qawwal Nizami Brothers was also organised.
