IAS, IPS, IFS and IFS are all aware of the process of becoming an officer and are also preparing to reach this position. But most people remain confused about their roles. Do you know what these officers are doing?
The post of IAS and IPS is of special authority. These are known as Public Service Officers and they are called the flag carrier of Indian Democracy. They have different roles and there is a lot of difference in their salaries too. All these officers are selected after passing the Civil Services Examination organized by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC).
IAS (Indian Administrative Service):
The candidates who get top rank in Civil Services Examination become an IAS. The IAS officers enforce the law made in Parliament in their respective areas. At the same time, they also make important contributions to making new policies or laws. IAS officers can also become Cabinet Secretaries, Under Secretaries etc.
IPS (Indian Police Service):
The IPS officer works in maintaining law and order in the field of work and from IPS, SP to IG, Deputy IG, and DGP. The IAS work to implement the law appropriately.
IES (Indian Engineering Service):
It looks at the technical function of the government. The special thing is that for other officers only requires graduation, but for the IES, candidates must have graduated in engineering. IES Officers work in Department of Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering.
IFS:
IFS deals with foreign affairs and offers services in the Ministry of External Affairs. After three years of training to clear the UPSC, IFS officers are formed. IFS officers work in diplomatic matters and handle bilateral matters.
Salaries:
Talking about the salary of the IAS officer, it is based on various structures, such as junior scale, senior scale, super time scale. There are different pay bands on the pay scale. The IAS officer is also entitled to HRA (40 % of original or official accommodation). They also get DA, TA. It increases salary based on cabinet securities, APEX, super time scale. IPS officers are also given PF, gratuity, healthcare services, lifetime pension, residence, service quarters, transportation, domestic workers, study leave and many other retirement facilities. It gets salaries on the basis of IG, DIG, ADG, SP.
