In a good news for hundred of thousand students; the candidates holding Diploma in Education (D.Ed) degree have a perfect reason to smile.

Such students would be eligible to become Assistant Teacher in primary schools. The Supreme Court on Tuesday set aside the special petition filed by State Govt.

Now the students who had applied in 2010 against 10,000 Teachers posts have the strong edge to be appointed as assistant teacher in primary school.

Basic Education Council had issued recruitment notification five years ago to fill the vacant posts of Teachers. Candidates holding D.Ed degree who had applied for the vacant posts were then rejected. Council had said that "Only Bachelor degree holders with BTC degree were eligible to be recruited for the posts."

The state Govt had filed a special petition in the Supreme Court against this. A bench headed by Justice Dipak Misra of the Supreme Court has disallowed the plea filed by the state Govt. Without issuing the order to the other side it has solved the case.

HIgh Court had said that "The recruitment of primary teachers should be done only on the guidelines of National Council for Teachers Education (NCTE)." Advocate from prosecution said Teachers have completed their D.Ed degree from a recognized institute which is affiliated from the Rehabilitation Council of India (RCI).

NCTE had ascertained this condition for Teachers' appointment in August 2010. These teachers have also passed Teachers Eligibility Test (TET) also.
