Accusing the Congress government for implementing no detention policy, Haryana Education Minister Ram Bilas Sharma on Wednesday said that Centre will introduce board exams for class V/VIII after amending the Right to Education Act.

“The no detention policy had an adverse impact on the quality of education,” said Sharma, in response to a question raised by Congress MLA Geeta Bhukkal during the ongoing Budget Session in the Vidhan Sabha.

According to reports, HRD ministry wants to scrap the no-detention policy till Class VIII in the Right to Education Act. HRD Minister Prakash Javadekar had reportedly spoken to the attorney general to figure out how the no detention clause could be undone through the executive route.
