Replacing the old format, Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) is all set to implement 2 semester system from class VI.
"The change is a step linked to the restoration of the Class X board examinations from 2018," said CBSE chairperson R K Chaturvedi.
He reiterated that uniform standards had become imperative because disparities in the system were creating problems for students whenever they migrated to another school.
A CBSE notification pointed out that keeping in view of provisions of Right to Education Act, 2009, the scheme for classes VI-VIII has been designed on term assessment basis with gradual increase in learning assessment as the students move forward.
