The CBSE in a stern decision, has planned to issue notices to the schools which are making their teaching staff to do the non-teaching tasks.
It is said that to have cut on the budget cost, schools are making teachers to over work and to do work which do not suit their profile.
The country’s biggest school board, CBSE has planned to issue a circular to around 16000 private schools affiliated to it, the board will sought information about the work assigend to the teaching and non-teaching staffs.
The board has been informed by teachers associations and various teachers in person, with complaints of being forced to do the non-academic tasks, and it's a common complaint across the country.
Around 1200 schools have to share the details of the teaching and non-teaching staff employed at their place, according to a HT report.
According to sources in the Board, it has came to their notice, that to save on costs schools are asking teachers to collect fee, do bus duties and other clerical duties as well.
According to Sheik Shabbir Ali, president of Telangana Private Teachers Forum,"We have took the matter with the CBSE and it will be good if they ask private schools for details of teachers and administrative staff and the duties they perform." The forum is one of the associations that took up the matter with the board.
"Unlike government school teachers, private ones can’t even complain for the fear of losing their jobs", he said.
According to an official, In CBSE rules, a private school should have a separate set of teaching and non-teaching staff. "By burdening them (teachers) with non-teaching work, we kill their creativity and education will suffer."
