The students will have to bring 60% marks to get National Talent Search Scholarship. The decision of National Council Of Educational Research And Training (NCERT) will be implemented from 2015-16.

Students will have to get 60 % marks in every exam; either internal or terminal throughout two years. The scholarship amount will be stopped forever in case the student fails to get sixty percent marks in any exam.

"Students had to bring 50% marks in Terminal Exam and 60% marks in Annual Exam till date to get scholarship but now they will have to bring sixty percent marks in all examination," Prof. Y. Srikant, In-charge of National Talent Search Scheme Cell said.

This decision was taken in a review committee meeting because the performance of students are decreasing day by day.

If a student gets 59.9% marks in any year then he/she will not be able to get scholarship. In case if a student fails either in core subject/Non core subject or optional subject then the students will not be able to get scholarship.

NTSE will be conducted for Class X students. The examination will consist of Mental Ability Test(MAT) and Scholastic Ability Test(SAT). Quota for State/UT will be computed proportionally on the basis of students enrolment in Class IX and X. The amount of scholarship will be Rs. 500/- per month for all the students studying in Class XI onwards(irrespective of class/course) except for Ph.D., wherein it is paid as per UGC norms.

The scholarships under the present scheme are awarded to the candidates for pursuing courses in sciences and social sciences up to doctoral level and in professional courses like medicine and engineering up to second-degree level subject to the fulfilment of the conditions provided.
