In a preventive vigilance measure, Union Culture secretary has directed the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) to review the academic certificates of all persons who have joined the ASI during the last five years.
An ASI circular dated September 3 said that Culture Secretary directed that the appointments of past five years, undertaken for various posts in ASI may be reviewed vis-a-vis procedural accuracies and academic certificates.
"The details of all appointments made by direct recruitment in the office of ASI since 1-10-2010 may be furnished to the Headquarters office latest by 10-09-2015 in the enclosed proforma along with photocopies of academic certificates possessed by the persons appointed," the circular said.
The Culture Secretary has desired that the exercises may be completed on priority and a report be submitted, it added.
Terming it as a "preventive vigilance", ASI sources said that the rechecking is being done as an internal audit.
