In addition to the existing 30 per cent job reservation for women in all Gujarat state government jobs, Gujarat Chief Minister Anandi Patel announced a three per cent reservation here on Monday, taking total job reservation for women, to 33 per cent.

"At present, we give 30 per cent reservation for women in government jobs. As part of our women empowerment drive, we have increased that quota by three per cent. Now, women will get 33 per cent reservation in all Gujarat state government jobs across all services and posts," Gujarat minister and state government spokesperson Nitin Patel said.

As per an official press release issued here today, CM Anandi Patel amended the existing Gujarat Civil Services (Reservation of Posts for Women) Rules-1997 to implement 33 per cent reservation in Gujarat for women.

During June this year, Patel had announced 33 per cent reservation for women in Gujarat state's police services.

"With this new rule, one out of every three posts in Gujarat will remain reserved for women. It will be applicable in all government departments and services, such as police, health, education and general administration," Nitin Patel said.
