The Himachal Pradesh Board of School Education has set up an examination centre at 14,200 ft in Spiti Valley at Kibber, the highest village in the state.Only one student of class tenth and eight of class twelfth are going to appear for the examination being held here.
Though examinations commenced in the state today, it has been delayed till March 20 for areas witnessing heavy snowfall. "The examination in seven centres of Spiti valley and 26 centres of Kinour District have been delayed due to rough weather," Rakhil Kahlon, Secretary of the board said, adding that the examination material to these stations is being sent through helicopter.
"A total of 1,340 students of class tenth and 887 of class twelfth are appearing from these snow bound areas," Kahlon said.
A total of 1,45,617 students in class tenth and 1,03,617 in class twelfth are appearing this year''s examinations being conducted by the board for which 1,596 examination centre are set up, controlled by around 3,200 superintendents and deputy superintendents appointed by the board.
Kahlon said that 247 flying squads will operate for the smooth conduct of the examination.This year the board is putting secrecy roll numbers for the first time to avoid any irregularity, she said, adding that the result of class twelfth shall be declared in April and that of class tenth in May this year.
