India's premier management institute, the Indian Institute of Management Calcutta (IIM-C) will get a new head Monday, said outgoing director Shekhar Chaudhuri here Saturday.

"On April 8, I shall be handing over the charge of the Institute to director designate, Professor Saibal Chattopadhyay, a senior faculty member in the Operations Management Group of our institute.

I have had the opportunity to work with him very closely over the last ten years. It was indeed a pleasure to work together. I am sure the institute will scale greater heights under his leadership," Chaudhuri said at the 48thannual convocation of IIM-C here.

Chattopadhyay has done his Ph.D.(Statistics) from the University of Connecticut (US) and has published numerous papers in important international journals.

He has been a faculty member of the Operations Management Group of the institute from 2001.

His research interests include sequential methods in estimation and in selection and ranking problems, inference on finite population and survey sampling among others.
