The Chhatrapati Shahuji Maharaj University authorities have issued a strict order barring students with less than 75 per cent attendance from appearing in final examinations scheduled to begin on March 4.

"We get orders from the state government in this regard from time to time. This time we got a reminder on February 19 that students who have less than 75 per cent attendance should not be allowed to appear in final examinations," university registrar Waqar Ahmed said here on Monday.

He said all affiliated colleges had been directed to send the name of students who have 75 per cent attendance in the current academic session.

Over 800 colleges are affiliated to Chhatrapati Shahuji Maharaj University and about 11.5 lakh students are enrolled in different streams.

Some university sources said that the move could affect around five lakh students.
