The NCERT has assured to include the life and works of Assam's Vaishnavite saint Srimanta Sankardeva in curriculum, a civil society group member said Thursday.
The department of Education in Languages of the National Council for Education Research and Training (NCERT) told this to the Society of Srimanta Sankardeva (SSS)- a civil society organisation in Assam - which had been lobbying hard for a long time for inclusion of the life and works of the saint in curriculum.
"The NCERT have communicated to us that they will include Srimanta Sankaradeva in curriculum when the next revision is carried out," said SSS president Sanjib Kumar Barkakoti, adding he received a letter in this regard from Professor Chandra Sadayat, head of the department of education in languages, NCERT.
