The Centre today selected five Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) of Punjab for additional funding of Rs 1.5 crore each, keeping in view their top class performance on every parameter.

Disclosing this here, Anil Joshi, state minister for Technical Education and Industrial Training, said, “It was a matter of great pride for the technical education department of Punjab that five ITIs have been selected by Director General Employment and Training (DGE and T) of GOI for additional funds of Rs 1.5 crore each.”

He said that the ITIs which have been selected for Rs 1.5 crore additional grant included government Industrial Training Institute for Women, Amritsar, government Industrial Training Institute for women, Jalandhar, government Industrial Training Institute for women, Kheowali, district Mukutsar, government Industrial Training Institute, Samrala and government Industrial Training Institute, Kadiyan.

Joshi informed that DGE and T has upgraded 26 ITIs in the state under vocational training improvement project (VTIP) with the assistance of World Bank.

The minister added that the five new ITIs which have been selected are those institutions which excelled in providing better education in fashion technology.
