The Board of Secondary Education (BSE), Odisha today announced that the matriculation examinations, 2013 would start from February 25.

The BSE, which conducts the examinations, have decided to conduct this years annual examination in February, instead of March as were done in previous years.

 The Board president D P Nanda today announced that the examination this year would begin from February 25 and shall continue till March 9. “As decided, the examinations on each day shall start at 9 am instead of 7am earlier for wintry conditions still prevailing till the last week of February,” Nanda said.

 There is also a good news for the examinees as they would be getting 15 minutes, instead of 10 minutes to get themselves acclimatize with the question paper. “The duration has been increased as from this year we are providing the questions printed in the answer sheets itself,” he added.

 Sources said at least five lakh students would write the examination in Regular stream while a little over 70,000 students have filled up application forms to appear in Ex-regular stream. The Board has set up at least 2000 examination centres located across the State to conduct the examinations for the both the streams.

 On the contentious issue of safety of question papers, the Board sources said that at least 300 nodal centres have been identified in the entire State which would store the question-cum answer sheets in safe custody under police security.
