The admission process for PhD at Lucknow University is likely to begin from October end.

The new PhD ordinance has been approved by the higher education department. From last one year it was waiting for the final assent. For the final assent, it will be kept in the executive council meeting to be conducted on October 22.

The PhD admissions were originally scheduled to begin in the month of September last year for over 600 PhD seats.

However, the ordinance was sent to the governor on September 15 last year, which was passed by the executive council in the month of August.

According to the report of Times of India, Raj Bhawan refused the approval of the ordinance.

It said that there were complications in the process of evaluation. It even had raised objections on the provision of extra weightage to candidates who had qualified the Junior Research Fellowship and National Eligibility Test.

Last year in the month of October, outlining several objections the governor, who is also the chancellor of state universities, sent back the ordinance.

In the month of November again the revised ordinance was sent by the LU for the approval.

Then the Raj Bhawan sent the ordinance to the higher education department.

From there it was passed this year in the month of August and in October first week was received by the university.
