BJP MP Meenakshi Lekhi on Wednesday kick-started a vocational training programme for unemployed youths in her New Delhi constituency to help them get jobs.

The training will be imparted free of cost to youths in six villages -- Aliganj, Jutbagh, Old Pilanji, New Pilanji, Kotla and Kherpur.

Lekhi said on completion of the three-month programme, the youths will be offered jobs at private companies.

"This training is for those who need employment. We are getting help from three big companies in this initiative. The youths will have to undergo training for three months following which they will get jobs with good salaries," she said after launching the programme.

Earlier, Lekhi had adopted Old Pilanji in her Lok Sabha constituency to develop it as a "Model Village" under a scheme envisaged by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

In Pilanji, the New Delhi MP had promised to work to improve sanitation, drainage and road conditions in order to develop it fully as a "Model Village".
