Jamia Millia Islamia University on Wednesday has invited application for admission to 3 years Bachelor of Vocational (B.Voc.) in Solar Energy Course, for the academic session 2015-16.
The course aims at providing the graduates of higher education system to have adequate knowledge and skills for employment and entrepreneurship and to also fulfill the emerging needs of the economy.
Students will get admission in the course from current academic session. The last date for filling application to get admission in this course is September 30.
The admission will be held on basis of merit while from upcoming session students will have to sit in Common Entrance Test (CET).
Students can fill application from Wednesday onwards, a university official said. The application form can be downloaded from official website of Jamia. Students will have to enclose the Demand Draft of Rs. 100/-
"The UGC has approved the university's proposals and sanctioned Rs 90 lakhs for the Bachelor Vocational in Solar Energy and Rs 61.56 lakhs for Diploma in Refrigeration & Air Conditioning for a period of two years," Jamia spokesperson Mukesh Ranjan said.
It targets senior secondary school pass-outs interested in directly entering the workforce and has training and education programmes for local employers.
The scheme aims to provide upgrades and certification of traditional/acquired skills of learners irrespective of their age.
The UGC is implementing the Scheme of Community Colleges in universities and colleges to impart skill-based vocational education and training to learners through credit-based modular programmes with industry partnership.
