Gone are the days when students used to bunk and teachers to escape from teaching in the class. Delhi University is soon going to launch a helpline number for students so that they can register their grievances.

The helpline number - 1065 is going to be launched to register complaints in case teachers are not attending classes or there are some problems in the colleges. Both students and teachers can register their complaints by dialing this number.

According to the story published in " The helpline will include a phone number, an email address, a number for fax as well as a mobile app that will help students send a message in case a teacher is not taking class" . The identity of the students will not be revealed.

The official from the Committee also said that "If a teacher is absent frequently, or a large number of complaints are received against a particular teacher or on any other issue, an inquiry will be instituted. And if the teacher is found guilty, action will be taken against her or the college. This, however, does not mean that any random complaint will lead to an inquiry,"

"This effort has been taken to improve the educational facility in various colleges of University. After not getting the positive feedback from the students the Committee set up for the grievance cell has taken this initiative" the official said.

The university is also going to introduce the new "biometric attendance" for teachers which will be implemented from the 2014-15 academic session.

A lot of resistance is likely to come forth from the teachers, who are terming these as "draconian" measures.
