Technical Education Department, Government of Rajasthan has announced that admissions to B.Tech. program in engineering colleges in Rajasthan shall be on the basis of JEE Main score from the academic session 2016-17. Shri Arpit Agrawal, Vice Chairman, JECRC Foundation has clarified that there are about 54,000 seats for B.Tech admission in various private and government engineering colleges in Rajasthan.
Earlier, these admissions were made on the basis of Rajasthan Pre-Engineering Test (RPET). Now, the admissions will be made on the basis of JEE Main score and the candidates will get relief from writing the RPET entrance examination. The aspirants will be required to register for admission through the process of REAP (Rajasthan Engineering Admission Process), and exercise option for preferred college and branch on the basis of JEE Main score. This revised process will take effect from academic session 2016-17.
Admission criteria to Undergraduate Engineering Programs at NITs, IIITs, Other Centrally Funded Technical Institutions, Institutions funded by participating State Governments, and other Institutions shall be on the basis of Joint Entrance Examination, JEE (Main). Last year approximately 13 lakh students appeared for JEE Main examination.
Shri Arpit Agrawal further clarified that besides Rajasthan, the States of Gujarat, Nagaland, Madhya Pradesh, Haryana, Punjab, Uttarakhand and Odisha have joined JEE (Main) system.
