Have you ever wondered why passing marks are 33 percent in India?
They wondered what the passing marks should be.
Back then, the passing marks in Britain were 65.
British deemed our intelligence half of theirs.
British thought Indians could only have half the IQ of them
They then set the passing marks at 32.5, which was half of 65.
Later in 1861, this 32.5 percent was rounded off to 33 percent.
This is how 33 percent became the passing marks in India.
