HPBOSE Class X Result 2017: Isha Chauhan tops with 99.14%

With Himachal Pradesh Board of School Education (HPBOSE) declaring Class X results on Tuesday, girls have again outshined boys as far as the top slots were concerned.

Isha Chauhan, student of Minerva Senior Secondary School Ghumarvin in Bilaspur district, has topped the Class X examination 2017 conducted by the HPBOSE. She has scored 99.14 per cent.

While Riya Chauhan of SVN Public School Nahan in Sirmaur district scored 99 per cent and bagged the second position, Nikhil Rana of AVM High School, Khundian, Kangra district, Arpana S Vidya Mandor, Senior Secondary School, Kandrour, and Vanshika stood third with 98.86 per cent.

Out of the total 33 students who have jointly figured in top 10 ranks in the results, 26 are girls and 7 are boys. The matriculation (class 10) exams were conducted from March 4, starting with the Hindi paper, to March 17, 2017. Nearly 1.5 lakh candidates appeared for the exams. Government schools performed poorly in the Class 10 exam with only one student figuring in the merit list.

According to board, 67.7% students have passed this year’s Himachal Pradesh board Class 10 examination. About 1,15, 311 students appeared in the exam and 76,855 have cleared it. As many as 16,564 students have got the compartment.

"The overall pass percentage remained 67.57%," said Chairman of the HPBSE Balbir Tegta.

In 2016 also, out of total 1, 22, 614 students who appeared in the Himachal Pradesh board Class 10 examination only 81,304 could passed and 16,616 got compartment.

However, the board issued a notification mentioning that students can get their papers re-examine or re-evaluated  by May 24, 2017. The fees for re-examination and re-evaluation are Rs 400 and Rs 300 respectively.
