Ensuring hassle-free way of ascertaining the identity of candidates, the Uttar Pradesh Madhyamik Shiksha Parishad has made Aadhar card mandatory for students appearing for the board exam.
While a valid Aadhaar number would leave no scope for fake registration or impersonation in board exams, a total number of 37,12,508 students are expected to appear in Higher secondary exams in 2018.
The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has also made Aadhaar mandatory for students appearing for UGC NET exam.
"The provisions of the Aadhaar Act and Regulations under the Act have come into effect from 14th September 2016 and notifications to this effect have been published in the Official Gazette. Section 57 of the Aadhaar Act 2016 permits the use of Aadhaar number for establishing the identity of an individual for any purpose pursuant to any law or any contract to this effect," read the official notice issued by CBSE.
Highlights
The candidates who did not give their Aadhaar credentials were not barred from the exam.
30,17,032 students are expected to appear for intermediate exam next year.
37,12,508 students are expected to appear in Higher secondary exam in 2018.
