The Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies or NMIMS conducts its own exam i.e. Narsee Monjee Aptitude Test or NMAT for admission to its courses. NMIMS is a deemed to be university and has three campuses in the country (Mumbai, Hyderabad and Bangalore). We share with you some tips to ace this exam and come out with flying colors.
• The allotted time for the exam is 120 minutes or 2 hours. The paper consists of three sections i.e. language skills, quantitative skills and logical reasoning.
• The verbal ability questions are generally direct and knowledge based instead of the inferential types as in CAT.
• To ace the language part you should work on vocabulary. Normal Lewis is a book which will help you with this. Verbal Ability by Arun Sharma and Wren and Martin books for grammar are also ideal study material.
• The level of quantitative aptitude is easy to moderate.
• Since all sections are time bound it is highly critical to manage time well.
• You should always start off with the section you are most confident about. After attempting questions from your strong areas you can devote time to other sections.
• Though NMAT question difficulty level is not very high but most exam takers find a time crunch given that 120 questions need to be solved in as many minutes. Seeing that there is no negative marking, students must attempt all the questions.
• Since NMAT is to a large extent a speed test do not remain stuck on questions you are finding difficult.
• Toppers suggest that Data Sufficiency and Data Interpretation are very important part of quantitative ability section. You should practice a lot and you will need accuracy for dealing with this section.
