Why Students Fail To Crack IAS Interview?

Theimportance of 30-minute IAS interview is well known. Most students fail theinterview miserably for one of more reasons. After consultation with thestudents and interviewers, we have come up with few basic reasons that may costyou dearly in the interview.

1.      Overconfidence

Whena student clears the UPSC main exam with flying colors,s/he is on the top of the world. This is where things start to role in thewrong direction. Getting overconfidentabout yourself may cost you the chance to clear the interview. Most of thestudents have ‘confidence’ that they can answer any question about themselvesand current events which bite them during the interview.

2.      Lessknowledge about the bio-data

Studentswrite a lot of information in their bio-data which gives a good impression to the interviewer. However,due to nervousness or anxiety or inability to check the bio-data content beforeappearing in the interview can make you look like a fool in front of theinterviewers. The candidate should read the bio-data multiple times before appearingfor the interview.

3.      Lesspreparation

Mostof the students wait for the result of UPSC main exam and fail to consider thetime required to work on the personality for the interview.

4.      Noinformation on current events

Mostof the students stop to check the newspapers and other resources for currentevents after the main exam which causes a lot of problems during the interview.

5.      Nointerest in own hobbies

Thoughyou may like to click photographs or collect coins, there are chances that youdo not know the very basics of the hobby you have. This is the first questionin most of the interviews and students simply fail to answer the basicquestions related to it.

6.      Notcoming to the point

Mostof the students actually fail to answer the exact question and talk aboutunnecessary facts.It is very important to stay calm and positive for the  interview if you want to clear it.
