UGC announces Scholarship for Single Girl Child
The University Grants Commission (UGC) will provide Swami Vivekananda Single Girl Child Scholarship for Research in Social Sciences for the year 2014-15.

The Scholarship will be provided to the eligible candidates in Social Sciences stream.

The online application form is available on the official website of UGC. The desirous research scholar can fill the online application form till November 30 , 2014. UGC will offer 8 to 10 thousands per month to the selected research scholars. "A total of 300 students from all across the country will be selected, the commission said."

According to UGC Secretary, Jaipal.S.Sandhu, "The online application form for Swami Vivekananad Scholarship for Single Girl Child for Social Sciences has been made available on the official website.

Any single girl child who happens to be the only child or twin daughter or fraternal daughter in the family, is eligible for the scholarship.The upper age limit for applying for the scholarship for GEN category students is 40 Years while for SC/ST/PH candidates it is 45 Years.

The selected students would be offered Rs. 8000/ per month for pursuing Ph.D course for first two years while in the third and fourth years the students will be offered Rs. 10,000 per month as scholarship. The scheme is applicable to such a single girl child who has taken admission in full time Ph.D course in any university or institute.

Twin Daughters can get benefit :
Those parents who have only twin daughters can also get the benefit of this scholarship scheme. The students pursuing research in Social Science can fill the application form.
