Tech colleges to refund caution money if students leave without completing course: AICTE
New Delhi

The All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) has instructed engineering colleges to refund fees and return certificates to students if they withdraw before starting the course or leave midway. The new rule will be applicable from this academic session.

"In case the vacated seats are not filled, the institution should refund the security deposit and return the orginal documents. institution should not demand fee  for the subsequent years from the students cancelling their admission fee at any point of time," AICTE notified.

The HRD Ministry has included a clause in AICTE approval process handbook 2017-18 which directs engineering institutes to refund the fees vacant is subsequently filled by another candidate by the last date of admission.
