Punjab discards management, NRI quota from AYUSH colleges

Punjab has withdrawn management and NRI quota for undergraduate courses in private Ayush (Ayurveda, Yoga, Unani, Siddha and Homoeopathy) colleges, according to reports.

While the 800 seats (private and government colleges) will be filled through National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET), Guru Ravidas Ayurveda University earlier used to conduct entrance test.

Punjab has only one government and 15 private ayurvedic colleges.

50% quota fixed for management seats was allotted to students at Rs 1.20 lakh per anum and Rs 80,000 for government quota seat.

NEET is a single entrance test conducted for admissions to approximately 52,305 MBBS and BDS seats in India.

NEET 2017 will be conducted by CBSE in a pen and paper based mode in May, 2017.
