Prof Sunaina Singh takes over as Nalanda University Vice-Chancellor
New Delhi

Professor Sunaina Singh, the choice of the BJP's ideological fountainhead Rashtriya Swayamsewak Sangh (RSS), took over as Nalanda University vice-chancellor (V-C) on Monday.

"My goal would be to rebuild a historically and internationally-acclaimed institution such as Nalanda — a challenge which will drive me to establish a globally impeccable academic profile of the Nalanda University," said Prof Singh.

She took charge from Pankaj Mohan, the interim V-C and school of historical studies dean at the university.

The CAG has found that Prof Singh while living in the well-furnished house allotted to her as VC of English and Foreign Languages University has been availing House Rent Allowance as well in contravention to the University rules, reports New Indian Express.

The VC was also accused of receiving tour advances even for tours for which all expenses were borne by agencies like UGC, MHRD etc. Vouchers were not produced to the audit team.
