Jamia Millia Islamia Trains POSOCO Engineers in its SCADA Lab

A five-day training programme for the state-owned POSOCO Limited engineers on Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) Systems has been organised by the Department of Electrical Engineering of Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI) to hone operator’s skill and concepts of integrated power system operation.

Engineers of different Regional Load Dispatch Centres (RLDCs) across the country are participating in the training programme which began yesterday.

Iqbal Ali, the training coordinator, along with other faculty members of the department as well as experts from industry will provide training in the department’s SCADA and Smart Grid Technologies Lab.

The laboratory is equipped with the state-of-the-art SCADA and Smart Grid related research infrastructure to provide high-end training and has been awarded research grants under AICTE RPS, UGC SAP and DST FIEST projects.

POSOCO Limited ensures Integrated Operation of Regional and National Power Systems to facilitate the transfer of electric power within and across the regions and transnational exchange of power with reliability, security and economy.

ZA Jaffery, Head of the Department of Electrical Engineering, JMI said that since the power system is one of the fastest growing sectors in the country, there is a need to have qualified and trained engineers to take up the critical responsibility of power management and load dispatching.
