Hitachi to hire 3000 people in FY 2015
Japanese industrial solutions giant Hitachi is targeting a turnover of around Rs 11,000 crore (210 billion yen) in FY 2015 from India and will hire around 3,000 people to expand its business here.

"Hitachi will contribute to the medium and long-term development of Indian society through the social innovation business which integrates cutting-edge IT and infrastructure technologies developed over many years, and strive to expand consolidated revenues in India in FY 2015 to 210 billion yen," Hitachi said in a statement.

The company that currently has 31 business bases and over 10,000 employees in India, further said it "is planning to increase the number of group employees in India in FY 2015 to approximately 13,000."

It will also continue its plan and implement investments totalling 70 billion yen (around Rs 3,670 crore) over the four years from FY 2012 to FY 2015, the statement added.

Commenting on the targets, Hitachi President & COO Toshiaki Higashihara said: "India is becoming an increasingly important country for Hitachi's global growth.

We believe that the extensive experience Hitachi has acquired in facing challenges over the years can be of service to help build strong and sustainable social infrastructure in India."

The group, which has started its business in India in 1935 by opening an office in Mumbai as Hitachi''s first overseas base, will also commemorate 80th anniversary of its establishment this year.

Hitachi at present promotes the global rollout of the Social Innovation Business based on the 2015 Mid-term Management Plan, and has set a goal of increasing the ratio of overseas revenues, which was at 45 per cent in FY 2013, to more than 50 per cent by FY2015.

"In India, Hitachi is currently expanding its business based on the ''India Business Strategy 2015" that was created in December 2012," the company said.

The company said it would participate in government-led efforts to put in place and maintain social infrastructures and provide a wide range of products and solutions, such as social infrastructure systems as advanced medical devices and rail systems.

"... In the rail systems business, Hitachi will consider local production in collaboration with Indian companies," it said, adding that it would utilise production bases in India as global hub and strengthen the rollout of the product business from India to overseas.

HItachi is a leader in construction machinery and air-conditioning systems in India and is also expanding in new areas such as information & telecommunication systems, power systems, industrial, transportation and urban development systems.
