Hindi to be made compulsory till Class X in CBSE affiliated schools

With President Pranab Mukherjee's approval to a suggestion of a Parliamentary panel, Hindi-must policy is likely to be introduced till Class X in CBSE affiliated schools.

According to reports, schools may have to teach Hindi language as a compulsory part of the curriculum up to class X as instructed to the Human Resource Development (HRD) by the Presidential order.

"The Centre should form a policy in consultation with state governments," pointed out the order.

While 18,546 schools across the country are affiliated to CBSE, states such as Tamil Nadu witnessed violent protest against the initiative.
