Haryana govt sanctions amounts for scholarships
Haryana government on Thursday sanctioned a sum of around Rs 37 crore under the cash award scheme for scheduled caste (SC) students studying in 9th to 12th standard for current academic session.

Under the Cash Award Scheme, a sum of Rs 37 crore would be spent during the year 2015-16 thus benefiting total 2,52,843 students including 1,25,535 boys and 1,27,308 girls who would get incentive or award of Rs 1450 per annum, a spokesperson of School Education Department said.

The government also sanctioned Rs 54,000 to award scholarship on the basis of merit to the government school students studying Punjabi as second language in eleventh and twelfth standards, he said.

It has also sanctioned Rs 27,000 for renewal award of merit scholarship for students studying Punjabi as second language in classes 12th for the year 2015-16.

He said that the scholarship would be provided during the academic session at the rate of Rs 75 per month on the basis of 10th class results.

Apart from this, the government has also sanctioned Rs 30 lakh for giving away fresh award of Haryana State Merit Scholarship and Renewal Award of Haryana State Merit Scholarship for the year 2015-16.

The state merit scholarship will be given on the basis of exam held in March this year to the students having 95 per cent marks and above, the spokesman said.
