The latest QS World University Rankings 2016 for BRICS nations has been released and with this year expansion to the number of universities to 250, total 44 Indian Universities have secured their positions in this years rankings.
QS Quacquarelli Symonds is a global higher education analysts and compilers of the QS World University Rankings. It conducts study of Institutes and Universities around the global and prepares rankings. It releases every year a ranking of best Universities from BRICS nations.
The Indian Institutes aquired 17.6 per cent of the total 250 Universities included in the list. But this year, six of the top 10 Indian universities in the rankings have lost their positions campared to last year. This year only 4 universities have ranked in the top 20.
The Indian Institute of Sciences, Bengaluru stood at sixth position, with IIT Bombay at 13th, IIT Delhi at 15th and IIT Madras at 19th place.
India has eight universities in the top 50, same as Russia and one more than Brazil.
