Bharti AXA General to double agent count to 6000
Bharti AXA General Insurance plans to double the number of its agents to 6,000 within a year, a senior company executive said on Tuesday.

Around 70 per cent of the company's business comes from retail segment and the rest from health and commercial lines. Hence, increasing the number of agents will help the private sector non-life insurer grow its business, he said.

"Our company's focus is on retail, from where we draw nearly 70 per cent of our revenue. Hence, we plan to double the number of agents we have in one year from now," Bharti AXA GI Senior Vice-President Subrahmanyam B told PTI here.

"Currently, we have got 3,000 agents and we plan to increase it to 6,000 in one year's time," he added.

The Bharti AXA executive said his company will outsource the conduct of exam for the recruitment of agents.

The Insurance Act has given companies free hand to recruit agents by conducting their own exams. Earlier, it was the regulator Irda which used to conduct exams for hiring agents.

Subrahmanyam was here to launch a travel insurance plan of his company, "Smart Traveller".
