After failing to secure the medical seat through National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET), 17 years old girl from Tamil Nadu named as Anitha committed suicide on Sep 1, 2017.
NEET was made mandatory in Tamil Nadu for medical admissions this year.
If the admission would have been through plus two marks then Anitha would have been the first doctor from her community.
Last month, she went to Supreme Court for seeking stay on admission through NEET.
Later, she gives up as the admissions were happening through NEET in 2017.
She had scored 1176 marks out of 1200 in the board examination.
The suicide cases are rising in the country especially amongst the students.
After the incident Tamil nationalist outfit the Naam Tamilar Katchi protesting demanding scrapping of the entrance exam.
