J&K Govt operates over 1,500 education centres for Gujjars
The Jammu and Kashmir government on Friday said it was operating as many as 1,545 educational centres for Gujjars and Bakerwals in the state.

In a written reply to the question of PDP member Mehbooba Mufti in the Legislative Assembly, Deputy Chief Minister Tara Chand said, of the 1,545 educational centres for Gujjars and Bakerwals, 104 were mobile primary schools, 210 stationery schools and 1,231 seasonal centres.

The deputy CM said all necessary facilities were being provided to the educational institutes.

Seasonal centres ranging from four to six months have been started for migrating population in areas where there is no schooling facility. Educational volunteers for seasonal centres are recruited for a monthly salary of Rs 4,000 for a particular period, he said.

However, there was no provision for regularising the education volunteers engaged under the Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan, the minister said.
