Girls outshine boys in Class X board exams of J&K
Girl students outshined boys in the 10th class, the results of which was declared by the Jammu and Kashmir Board of School Education (BOSE) today, securing 70 per cent of the first 20 ranks.

As many as 49,358 students - 26,511 boys and 22,847 girls - appeared in the examinations, out of which 31130 qualified, a board official said.

He said the first 20 positions were shared by 269 students, among which 186 are girls, while 68 students including 55 girls shared the first ten positions.

Kauser Jan, a student of Iqbal Memorial School (IMI) Bemina, scored 99 per cent to emerge as the topper, the official said, adding, the second position was shared by three students scoring 494 marks out of 500.

He said 70.58 per cent students passed the examination. While the pass percentage of boys this year was 73.82, for the girls it was 66.82 per cent.
